SKIN CARE 101
If you read the post 20 things about me you might have read that I struggled with acne a huge portion of my life. No matter what skin care routine I tried, no matter how much I washed, moisturized, toned I couldn’t get clear looking skin. My battle was obviously genetics (test after test) so after some long debate I decided to take medication to help clear up my skin. This made it 100 times worse (it always gets worse before it gets better) but I’m so grateful I did it. Side effects can be horrendous and it certainly isn’t for everyone but worked for me. This is something you would need to discuss with your physician/dermatologist.
A year after my skin was clear I started experiencing blemishes, uneven bumpy skin and discolouration. This is when my Mia 2 Clarisonic officially changed my life. I was always afraid of tools and clothes because of the bacteria that lives in them but the Clarisonic has yet to let me know. I had to get the sensitive heads because the original was a little too intense for me but it was well worth it. They are a little bit pricey but honestly worth every single penny. At first your skin gets a little more bumpy but this resolves within 1-2 weeks of using the Clarisonic. I like to use it at night time only after I have manually removed all my makeup with my hands.
I am also obsessed with this one skin care line called Societe. I don’t know what kind of magic was put into these products but they have actually changed my skin for the better. I used to use Cetaphil as directed by my dermatologist but it did nothing to help my skin. I know a lot of people swear by it but unfortunately it just didn’t work for me. I worked together with an amazing skin specialist named Renata who has saved my life (haha).
I have found that what types of makeup I put on my skin also really effect me. All products I use are oil free and I find this helped me SO MUCH. When I travel to hot places I almost never wear makeup during the day and I’ll apply a BB Cream if I’m needing a little bit of coverage. Mostly, I just throw on a hat and a lipstick to make me look put together while allowing my skin to breath in the hot humid conditions.
I’ll wash my face with the exfoliating cleanser twice a day (Clarisonic only at night), then I’ll use the prep solution and moisturizer after. I’ll use a face mask once a week(ish) and use whatever blemish fighting cream I am craving at the time and apply it to the blemishes only.
