SOUTHERN BELLE: BEHIND THE SCENES WITH IRIS

Morning Beautiful Girls,

I hope you’re all having an amazing spring so far! I can’t believe it’s already here!  You should see what it looks like outside right now, not much like spring, haha.  I can’t wait for it to arrive.  

Tim, Harlow and I had an amazing opportunity this winter to head down to Savannah, Georgia with IRIS to take some photos for their stores across Canada.  Today I’m sharing some of the behind the scene shots that were taken and you’ll also be able to see some of the photos at any IRIS store.  I was at IRIS in Chinook Mall standing next to a life size poster of me smiling at people as they walked by, I think they thought it was just funny as I did.  The most exciting is how you guys have been snapping yourselves at IRIS locations with the poster of myself and it’s been so fun to see how many people recognized me.

Okay, back to our amazing experience in Savannah.  The thought of taking our nearly 3 month old all the way across the continent felt a little overwhelming at first but I knew I wanted to seize the opportunity.  Tim and I both are always up for an adventure so we knew that little miss Harlow Lace would have to get used to it eventually.  I am so grateful to have been able to create these memories with Harlow: her first passport photo, her first passport, her first flight. Oh the emotions!  

When we got to Georgia I was in awe of how beautiful it was, how sweet and kind the people were and how it isn’t a lie when they refer to it as, ‘Southern Charm’.  Oh. My. Heart.  We had travelled to the south many times before (in fact we met each other in Houston, Texas oddly enough) but we had never experienced southern charm until this trip.  We would be walking across the street and people would be stopping us asking if we were having a good day, needed directions, or wanted suggestions on some good places to eat, it was remarkable.  The energy and the kind people are for sure two things we will never forget about our experience there.  While we were there we were also able to visit South Carolina and learn about some of history and visit a Plantation and we also spent one day in Charleston.  If you’ve never been, you must go.  

We had an amazing time styling and shooting these photos.  How often do you get to hang out with your baby and your husband, dressed in lace, having a picnic with fresh flowers under gorgeous spring blooms?  Our picnics are usually a lot less beautiful, so thanks for the motivation and inspiration IRIS.  I do believe in creating and enjoying beautiful moments and this experience is one I will forever hold in my heart, our first trip out of Canada with our first baby girl.  

I decided to choose bold, unique eyewear to style for these shoots because I feel that is what is in style this spring.  I also am a little in love with Gwen Stefani and most of you know so how could I not want to support the L.A.M.B line.  The boldness and unique styles caught my attention right away. Everything is so different and beautiful.  I also wanted to balance the excitement of those frames with something a little more soft and the brown frames from Vera Wang looked so elegant to me.  They also had some beautiful colour options like the flat lay photo posted above.  I’m just so excited for spring and having frames to coincide with upcoming trends!  If you take a peak at their site they also break down the eyewear by styles, like Bohemian for example, which helps narrow down what you might be looking for. 

I also was able to style some glasses and sunglasses that are on trend for spring so I’m very excited to be partnering with IRIS again and pick out product I’m sure you’ll see along the way.  Keep your eyes open for more lifestyle pictures of me wearing some of my favourites and Harlow’s first eye exam–those pictures are ADORABLE.
